Plant Whisperers is our blog section where, each month, we interview Pilea lovers and plant enthusiasts all around the world!
This month we met Deborah from @debbys.secretgarden.
She's a 26-year-old plant addict girl from France, currently living in Belgium. She started a pretty Instagram page all about plants not so long ago, and she owns more than 60 plants.
Hello Debby!
How did you fall in love with plants?
I think it started even before I realized it. Probably, it all began because of my grandma!
I grew up in a green environment because of her, and I loved it. Her house used to be full of plants and flowers, and she also had an outdoor garden.
I have always been amazed (and I'm still amazed) by trees and how beautiful nature is.
I started collecting plants once I had my own place. And let me tell you: once you start collecting plants, you can NOT stop!
What's the best thing about having plants at home?
They just give me so much happiness. The first thing I do when I wake up is looking at them, and it feels incredible. I love to see them all healthy and happy.
No doubts: I'm happier since I started to collect houseplants. And it's super good for air purification! I believe there's always a good excuse to have more plants.
Not only, but I've also completely fallen in love with the houseplants community! I already connected with so many wonderful people, and I love to share my passion with them all.
How can you manage to have 60+ plants?
Well, it might sound like a lot, but, really, it's not that hard to take care of them!
Almost all my plants are placed together to raise humidity levels. This also helps me with my care routine: I don't need to run all around the house to water or mist them.
What's your experience with Pilea Peperomioides?
I find Pilea a really easy-to-care plant, plus it looks absolutely amazing!
I bought one a few months ago, and it had a baby, so I divided it, and now I have two beautiful Pilea plants. They are growing so fast!
One thing that I always do is making sure to provide my Pileas with enough humidity. I find that they love it!
Do you ever talk, sing, or play some music for your plants?
Do I talk to them? ALWAYS! Probably my boyfriend thinks that I'm crazy :)
Any plants on your wish list right now?
Oh, yes! Colocasia Black Magic, Caladium Brandywine, and so many more...
Thank you for sharing your story with us, Debby!
